Educational Tools | Le geste et la matière, une abstraction "autre" Paris, 1945-1965 22 January - 16 April 2017
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Centre Pompidou is holding an exhibition at the Fondation Clément on abstract non-geometric painting, as it developed in Paris after the Second World War.
To accompany this exhibition, the Fondation Clément has produced an educational kit and visitor circuits for school pupils, taking the age and level of students into account. These circuits are led by mediators, who invite pupils to discover or rediscover the world of abstract painting.
Registration for school pupil visits is compulsory, on 0596 54 71 51 or scolaire.fondationclement@gbh.fr
VISITS
Visite cycle 1
Blue is for...
Visit maximum 45 min depending on students' level
Learn how to look at and talk about a work of art. This interactive visit based on colours, emotions, movements and materials calls on students' imagination and their sense of observation.
Visits cycle 2 and 3
Abstracadabra (Discovering Abstraction)
1 hr visitAbstract art may seem opaque and often disconcerting at first glance. The aim of this visit is to give students the initial keys to tackling this movement. Through a selection of works, students are encouraged to question representation, the material quality of the work, feelings, etc.
Junior and senior high schools and post-baccalaureate visitsOne period, one school
1 hr visit
Discovering the exhibition should allow them to contextualise the period, with references to history, literature, music, science, etc. so that the painting presented here can be seen as the reflection of an era. This should inspire each of them for an individual or more institutional project.
At the end of the visit there will be a discussion on the museography or a specific work.
EDUCATOR EVENTS FROM 25 JANUARY TO 29 MARCH
On Wednesday afternoons, the Fondation Clément team offers a special visit for educators – an opportunity to talk to the mediators in advance and best prepare for visits with students. Registration is required for these educational visits.
Registration for educator events is compulsory, on 0596 54 75 51 or scolaire.fondationclement@gbh.fr
